YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT A DAY WILL BRING - PART TWO
Published on December 2019Let’s just refresh your mind on what happened in part one. There had been a bang heard during the night and, of course, an investigation took place. In doing so, they found it was the front door. Havier found himself in a rather difficult situation when he pushed on the door and, finding himself stuck and could only move forward……..
As the last part of Havier’s tail went through the door, a silence fell on the barn like no other. Jake and the Littles stood as if they were frozen in time. Seconds later, reality kicked in…….
“HAVIER! HAVIER! Stay off the road Havier. It is a dangerous place. Can you hear me?” shouted Annie at the top of her lungs.
“This isn’t funny Havier. ANSWER ME!” yelled Jake.
Minutes passed and there was no answer in return.
“Baby, you check out the side window and Joseph, you check the back window. He has to be out there somewhere!” added Jake.
Baby ran to the window with no luck in seeing Havier. Joseph had the same results.
“The only other place is out front and there is no way of seeing out there. The only thing that we could do is push on the door like Havier did.” Jake said.
“I can’t believe you are saying that Jake, after what has happened to Havier!” replied Baby.
“It is not going to be me that does it.”
“Me either, Joseph.” added Annie.
“Littles, I know how you feel but what other choice do we have? We have to help Havier out.”
Just then there was a faint sound coming from outside.
“Havier, is that you?”
“I am over here, Jake.” Havier answered.
“Over where, Havier?” shouted Baby.
“In front of the trailer.”
“How are we going to get you back in, Havier?” Jake asked.
“I don’t know. The door is locked on this side so I cannot push it open.”
“Maybe you can try getting back in the way you got out?”
“I don’t think so, Baby and I really can’t understand how I got out through that small hole in the first place, as big as I am – 15 hands and 1200 pounds plus. Right now, I just want back in.”
“Why don’t you go down to the house and let our owners know you are out?”
“Joseph, I am in enough trouble as it is without tearing up the lawn with these big hooves.”
“Point is taken.” Joseph replied.
Just then there was the sound of excitement coming from the house.
“I think they have seen me. Oh boy, I know I am in deep trouble now.”
“Just stay where you are and don’t wander away. I’m sure that will gain you some points.” Jake whispered through the door.
Baby ran to have another look out the side window.
“They don’t look mad, Havier. In fact, they look pretty chilled.”
“Well, Havier! A good morning to you. How in the world did you get out? I will figure that one out later but for now the most important thing is to get you back in.”
The door was unlocked and open but after the encounter Havier had earlier with the door, he wasn’t sure if he wanted to trust it now.
“Havier, the door is not going to bite you. All you have to do is walk through.”
Just then, Leona brought some grain to entire him through, but no luck.
“Wow Havier! I can see that you are afraid when grain doesn’t move you! I can show you that it is okay, if I am allowed.” Joseph whispered as he started walking towards the door.
“Joseph! What are you doing?”
“If there was a time Annie, that I wish they could understand what we say it would be now! Guess I have to test the waters and got for it.”
Joseph came closer and closer to Havier, putting his nose through the opening.
“See, Havier. It is alright. You can pass through with no problems.”
With that, Havier found the courage to come through while Joseph helped himself to the grain.
“JOSEPH!!”
“Baby, what can I say? It worked and I got a reward in the process!”
“Joseph, my head is tired but I have to say this – that I am proud of Buddy for thinking outside the box.” Replied Baby.
“Gee! Thanks Buddy!”
The rest of the morning was spend doing repairs, once the problem was solved. At supper, everyone was given an extra treat of carrots and apples.
“We made quite the team today. Havier, you stayed calm. Joseph, that was quite the move on your part. Baby, Annie and Jake – you ere just as important.” Leona said.
After supper, it was an early night to sleep for everyone.
“Joseph, you did a brave thing by showing our owners how you could help me overcome fears.”
“You would have done the same if it had been me, Havier. Maybe that can be my new career – thinking outside the box?”
“Good night Joseph!”
“Good night John Boy. Good night Mary Ellen.” Answered Joseph as he settled down to sleep, leaving them with something to think about.
