Stories from "The Barn" March
Written by Leona NielsenPublished on February 2013
One of our readers has contacted us regarding the animals in her barn and she thought, and we agreed, that it would make for an interesting "corner" for the Uniacke Newsletter specifically for the children. Of course, adults could read the stories and look at the photos too, but imagination for "talking animals" has been perfected by children everywhere. Enjoy!
BABY
Hi! My name is Baby. I am a miniature horse. My real name is Terry Star. When I came to "The Barn" I was the youngest of all the animals which gave me my nickname. As time passed I am still know as Baby even though I am 8 years old. Have you had a nickname given to you that you still have? I will bring you stories of the fun and mischief I have with the others.
JOSEPH
Hi! My name is Joseph I am a miniature donkey and I have a sister named Mary. If you know anything about donkeys, things are done on our time, not yours. You might say that I, at times, have a wee bit of an attitude. As my story unfolds you will see how this gets me into trouble and, like people, I have to be taught the right and the wrong ways of doing things. I get into mischief all the time!
SCOUT
Hi! My name is Scout. I am a pony. I spent a large part of my life bringing joy to children either in 4H or at home. I don't know how many children I have given lessons or rides to but I enjoyed every one of them! I am in my thirties, which is old for a pony, but I am young-at-heart! I will show you how I can get into mischief because I'm so "young". Being "young-at-heart" helps with all sorts of things.
Each month we will bring you a story from "The Barn". Our first one will be in April. We will tell you what happens when the vet pays us a visit. See you then.
