IT'S GREAT TO BE BACK!

The sun rose over the mountain top as it always does. Spring could be felt ever so slightly in the air. Baby left the window to find someone who was up. Just around the corner Baby came face to face with Joseph.

“What are you doing up this time of the morning? Did the alarm clock in your head malfunction and you thought it was later?”

“Not exactly, Baby, but I do feel like I’m having a Senior’s Moment.”

“Really?” Annie answered as she popped up from behind a hay bale.

“You’re up too.”

“Joseph, I am always up early and I have those moments too.”

“If there is anyone here who has them it should be me, as I am the oldest.”

“Annie, you’re the baby here. How could you have them?” asked Baby.

“Simple. Everyone forgets now and then and age doesn’t matter.”

“Well put, Annie.” Joseph added.

“Okay, now that we have that settled, let’s brainstorm this. Am I right in thinking that things should be happening around here?”

“By gosh, Joseph, you are right! I was thinking just that this morning while looking out the window. The carts, trailer and gear should be getting an overhaul from the winter for the show season.” Baby replied.

“I feel better knowing we aren’t losing our minds. So, what do you think is the matter?” Joseph asked.

“I think we better keep our ears to the ground to see if we can find out.”

“Yes, Joseph, that certainly would be a good idea! We were wondering that as well.” Havier answered.

A few days later in the week there was a conversation outside the barn with the neighbours.

“Baby, cover me. I hear some talking outside. I am going to see what it is all about.” Joseph whispered to Baby.

Joseph decided to move as close as he could get without being seen. As Baby stood waiting to see if he had found out anything, Annie came on the scene.

“Shhhh Annie. Joseph is on a mission to see if he can find out anything.”

“Okay.”

Not many minutes passed when Joseph started to go back up towards the others.

“Act normal, but we have to meet up with Havier and Jake in the barn ASAP.”

Annie looked at Baby, confused as they were and both were thinking, “this can’t be good!”

“What is wrong Littles? That was the loudest bray we have heard in awhile.”

“We are okay. Joseph was eavesdropping on what the neighbours were saying. I know that is something we shouldn’t be doing, but in this case, we felt it was okay.” said Baby.

“Did you find out anything about what is going on, Joseph”?

“Yep, I did and Havier, it is strange, to say the least.”

“The suspense is killing me.” added Annie.

“Okay, Joseph, you have the floor.”

“I heard that there is something out there that is making humans sick. Some had to go to the hospital. One of them asked if it was like the Flu and the answer was worse. It was travelling all around the world. Covid 19 was what they called it, but I don’t know what that could be. Then they said lots of events, plus our shows, were going to be cancelled. That makes sense why things are so quiet here!”

“Oh my, that doesn’t sound good. I hope our owners stay safe.” Annie answered.

“No shows now. It has to be bad because shows are like the postman – they go in any type of weather, except for snow. We won’t be about to see our friends or have any adventures. Just stay home.” Joseph replied.

“The show and friends will be there but right now, if this is what we have to do, then we will do it.” replied Baby.

“Oh yes they also said they had to wear masks and social distance.” Joseph added.

“Now that is going to be interesting to see what the masks look like and staying far away from one another.”

“I wonder if it is going to be fashion look or like something from another planet.”

“JOSEPH!!”

“Are they going to have to stay away from us?” Annie asked.

“I don’t think so. It sounds more like it has to do with humans.”

“I hope they do the things that will keep everyone safe.”

“yes, Annie, we all hope that they do.” Jake answered.

“How about a game of tag after all this heavy stuff?”

“Great idea Havier. Let’s do this!!!!!” shouted Joseph as he ran out the door.

Hi Everyone. It is good to be back. Things have been different for us over the past few months. Yes, we stayed home, but funny enough, we had to find things to do. We will be sharing them with you in the coming months.

Remembrance Day is near. Remember our Fallen comrades and those who are still serving.

Wear your Mask, Stay Safe and look out for one another.

Baby, Joseph, Annie, Havier, Jake and the cats
