UNIACKE & DISTRICT VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT NEWS AND INFORMATION

The 2018 Firefighter Fair is fast approaching! This year's theme is Outer Space. The fair will be held at the Uniacke & District Volunteer Fire Department located at 654 Highway #1 in Mount Uniacke.

Fairgrounds open on Friday, June 22 at 6:30pm and will have our kid’s large inflatables, games booths, canteen and many other exciting events. We will end the night with our amazing fireworks display at dusk. Join us again on Saturday, June 23 when our parade will begin at 11:00am at the Uniacke & District School. Participants for the parade must be at the school at 9:30am. Once the parade is finished, fairgrounds will open up again for the day with our canteen, all day bingo, games and large inflatables. Top your evening off with our night canteen on the fairgrounds which begins at 6:00pm and will remain open until they run out of food. All fair details will soon be posted on our website http://www.uniackefire.ca/. This year’s ticket sales are for a White Point vacation valued at $770.

Please visit the ticket booth at the fair or see a firefighter to purchase tickets. Unfortunately, due to the decline in participants last year, there will not be a 5K Fun Run for 2018. The Uniacke Fire Department members thank you for your support!

Note: our Annual Colouring Contest theme is “Outer Space”. You will find the colouring page in the hard copy of the Uniacke Newsletter as well as posted here below this article – just waiting for you to colour away. Contest entry must be handed into the Fire Hall by June 19th. Place your name, age and phone number on the back of your colouring sheet. Good luck to all!

Uniacke & District Volunteer Fire Department would like to remind all community residents that as of March 15, burning restrictions are now in effect for 2018. This means that you must check daily before you can burn brush, have campfires, or any other open fire not enclosed in a CSA approved burning appliance. Please check restrictions daily by visiting the provincial website at www.novascotia.ca/burnsafe or by calling 1-855-564-2876 (BURN).
