With winter here, your UDVFD Firefighters would like to give you some safety tips to keep your winter season as enjoyable as possible. If you haven't done so this season, the FPA recommends annual chimney inspections to keep your chimney operating as designed and keep the hot stuff where it belongs. While you're at it, you should clean it as creosote build-up is the number one cause of chimney fires. Always ensure you work in an area free of snow or debris and that you use a ladder with sufficient reach.

In October your Uniacke Firefighters responded to 30 calls comprised of: 4 alarms activated, 1 illegal burn, 2 investigation calls, 17 medical assists, 3 motor vehicle accidents, 2 requests for mutual aid and 1 downed power line.
