TO ALL RESIDENTS OF MOUNT UNIACKE

An Information Session was held on December 12, 2018 at the Beaverbank / Kinsac Community Centre relating to the proposed expansion of the BIRRETTE’S EAST UNIACKE QUARRY. Birrette’s East Uniacke Quarry, owned and operated by Bio Design Earth Products Inc. (BDEP), is located at 1255 East Uniacke Road in East Uniacke, NS. BDEP intends to expand the existing quarry area over approximately 25 years. This activity requires Provincial Environmental Assessment (Class 1 undertaking) Approval.

During the Information Session, the Project Team was on hand to provide details related to the proposed quarry expansion and present the preliminary Environmental Assessment study findings.

BDEP is currently preparing the Environmental Assessment registration document for submission to Nova Scotia Environment in Early February 2019. Notification of registration will be advertised in the Chronicle Herald and the Uniacke Newsletter. Public comments relating to the proposed Birrette’s East Uniacke Quarry expansion can be made during the Nova Scotia Environment’s Environmental Assessment review process.
