On Saturday, November 17 and Sunday, November 18, 2018 the Uniacke Wishgivers held their Annual Fundraising Campaign. Once again, thanks to the generous, helpful community - businesses and residents - we raised nearly $30,000.

Thank you to all the businesses for your many donations and community spirit. Thanks also to our community residents who donated items for the draws and auctions as well as volunteered their time throughout the weekend. A thank you goes out to all the students of Uniacke District School who donated 1712 lbs. of food for the food boxes that are always a popular item. Thank you to all those who provided trucks and muscle to transport the food back to the Legion. Thank you goes out to those who sorted through many pounds of food to make sure it had not expired. The winner of the Pia Party was Samantha Gilliss's Grade 6 class bringing in 325 lbs of food. Well done!

Thanks to the decorating committee headed up by Linda Conway and Teresa Demmings who did another excellent job decorating the hall. Thanks to the auctioneer Laurie Parker. Thanks to Tom Burns and those who worked the floor. Without all of you we would not have raised such a total. Thank you to Laura Middleton and all the volunteer workers who sold tickets and kept track of the items that were sold. Thank you to Paul Conway who did the auctioneering on Sunday. Thank you to the Sea Cadets for helping out on Sunday with the auction as well as serving the meal on Saturday evening. With youth such as the cadets, our community is in good hands. Thank you to Santa for his appearance at this busy time of year. Thank you to Jean Thorne and all the canteen workers. Thank you to Don & Marilyn Hartlen and their staff for putting on a nice meal on Saturday evening. A special thank you goes out to the Uniacke Baptist church for having their concerts in aid of Wishgivers. A thank you goes out to the Uniacke Legion which held a Ham & Turkey Bingo, raising additional funds. A special thank you goes out to Lorraine Wagner who recorded the results of each auction item both Saturday & Sunday. Thank you to all those who successfully bid on the items. Thank you to all.

On Saturday, Dec 22 another group of volunteers will get together at the Uniacke Baptist Church to help pack Christmas food boxes for all the families in need while another group of volunteers will deliver these, as well as presents, to these families. This could not have happened without your support.

Each year, for the past 24 years, this community has come together to raise funds that go to making life for the less fortunate just a little bit better. This year, once again, you have made Mount Uniacke proud.

On behalf of the entire Board of Directors of Uniacke Wishgivers, THANK YOU very much and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Sincerely, Jim Sampson - Secretary, Uniacke Wishgivers
