First of all, I want to congratulate all those who braved the cold, put the work in and took part in the community tree lighting. The hot chocolate provided by Tim’s was well received and I’m sure helped keep the people warm. A big thank you to the Fire Department for escorting Santa to and from this event. Other events that are available are: a swim afternoon at the Sackville Sports Stadium from 2-4 on 27th Dec and Activities from 2:30-4 in the Party Room as well as an open skate at the East Hants Sportsplex Dec 23rd 11:30-1pm and Dec 31st 10-11am. Keep an eye on East Hants social media for more events and I will try to get items also posted at the library for people from our great community.
Overall, it’s been a busy time in council and as the new year approaches more community engagement is going to be my number one priority to not only inform, but get community feedback.
I was also happy to see and cheer on the Uniacke School volleyball team at a tournament in Sackville this month. Great to see children getting the opportunity to participate in school sport, so I’d like to say well done to the volunteers and staff support to let these activities happen once again.
I’d like everyone to remember as this Holiday Season is upon us not only to think of those who may be struggling or alone for the holidays but also all those in our community (too many to name) who have done so much to help make this season a little bit better for everyone. One never knows how much a random act of kindness cannot only brighten, but change someone’s day.
Lastly, I’d like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday from my family to you and yours. If you indulge in Christmas / Holiday cheer please make plans and don’t smoke / vape / drink and drive.

District 8 Councillor for Mount Uniacke
