Sending out a big congratulations to Geoffrey Burnes for being selected to represent Team Nova Scotia in the upcoming 2020 Special Olympics Canada National Winter Games held in Thunder Bay, Ontario from February 25-29, 2020. Geoff is from Mt. Uniacke and has been involved in Special Olympics for the last 14 years. He has attended many Provincial games over the years for floor hockey, snowshoeing and bowling, but this is his first time competing at the National level and will be competing in 5 pin bowling. There are only a couple of 5 pin bowling centers in Nova Scotia, one being in Greenwood. This is where he has been training since October 2019 and is still bowling candlepin in Sackville on Sundays with the Sackville / Bedford Special Olympics. How appropriate it will be that Geoff will be celebrating his 28th birthday on Feb 29 with his Team NS friends and any new friends is sure to make with teams across Canada at the Special Olympics Nationals Celebratory Dance. Best of luck to Geoff and remember the Special Olympic motto "Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt."
