COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER INCOME TAX PROGRAM

Income tax season is right around the corner, and for some it is difficult to fill out or too expensive to pay someone else to complete your return. The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program is provided totally free and your taxes are electronically filed. The filling of tax returns is totally free for everyone who fits within the criteria listed below. All you have to do is call to set up an appointment. I will start taking appointments from the beginning of March 2019 until the end of April 2019.

Family of 1 person with a total income of about $30,000

Family of 2 persons with a total income of about $40,000

Family of 3 persons with a total income of about $42,500

Family of 4 persons with a total income of about $45,000

Family of more than 5 persons with a total income of about $47,500 plus $2,500 for additional person

Volunteers DO NOT prepare income tax returns for complex situations such as: returns for deceased persons, individual who filed for bankruptcy, self-employed, individuals who report capital gains or losses, or individuals who report business or rental income or expenses.

The returns can be completed at the Royal Canadian Legion in Mount Uniacke or, in some cases, at my place. For appointments please call Michel Carrier 902-488-8195.
