The Church of the Holy spirit (Anglican) seeks a musician to help lead music during worship on Sunday mornings. The successful applicant will have an appreciation for Christian worship and be able to play a church organ, piano, keyboard, or another instrument conducive to congregational singing.
The Church currently has a vintage Hammond (A1) organ and electronic keyboard. We also have full support for both AV and a public-address system. We are open to a variety of musical styles and genres and other instruments. We enjoy both traditional and contemporary hymns and music.
There is a small, amateur choir with approximately 10 to 15 members who sing on special Church feast days and on other special occasions throughout the year.
Responsibilities – ** accompanying hymns and congregational singing for 48 Sundays of the year.
** selecting hymns and anthems with the Rector on a monthly basis and for funerals and weddings (when appropriate).
** conducting one to two choir rehearsals (one hour in length) every month following our Sunday worship
service, during which hymns and special anthems for the month are practiced.
** accompanying the choir for quarterly ecumenical services, held within the community, and other special occasions as they arise.
Compensation – The position requires an average of three hours per week at a rate of $75.00 per week. Additional compensation will be provided for weddings and funerals by the families of those involved.
