For all those fence sitters, you now have another two weeks to sign up for the 55+ games with our deadline being extended to August 11.
For those of you who are just hearing about the games for the first time, please go to our website at www.2017ns55plusgames.ca or our Facebook site and learn more. There are 25 sport/activity competitions being held over 3 days from September 13-16 throughout Lunenburg County. The games winners will have the opportunity to represent Nova Scotia at the National 55+ Games in Saint John, NB in 2018.
The 2017 games will follow the theme of Fun, Fitness and Friendship and will include an active Senior/Healthy Senior Health Fair on the Thursday of the event, pop-up cafes on Friday and Saturday, an opening ceremony and a closing banquet all including local food and entertainment.
These games follow three streams: passive, including card and board games; semi-active, including pool, darts, horseshoes, bowling, washer toss and shuffleboard; and active, including competitive sports such as track and field, swimming and running. There is something for everyone. Combine this with great Lunenburg County hospitality and you should have a “right some good time” in Lunenburg County.
