Thankfully the weather didn’t keep the crowds away from the 51st Annual Firefighters’ Fair. We were a bit worried late Friday afternoon when the rain started, but it cleared up a bit after 6pm and the fairgrounds were soon filled with children enjoying rides, games, dunk tank, canteen food and eventually our amazing fireworks display at dusk. Saturday’s weather started off the same way – cloudy with a bit of drizzle to start our parade but eventually cleared up. People came out to line Highway #1 for the parade and then off to the fairgrounds again for the afternoon. Although the Kids’ Fun Run went off without a hitch, the adult 5K Fun Run had to be cancelled this year due to a lack of participants. All in all, it looked like everyone had a great time. We saw lots of smiling faces throughout the weekend and heard many great comments from fairgoers .
The members of Uniacke & District Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank everyone for your support in making yet another fair a huge success. This includes all local businesses, fair volunteers, media organizations covering the event, parade participants and, of course, everyone from far and wide who came out to enjoy the fair.
Without all of you, the fair would not be the success it has been year after year. Save the date – the 2018 Firefighter Fair will be held on June 22 & 23, 2018. See you there!
