5K Fun Run starts at 8:30am Saturday at the Fire Hall and the Youth Run starts at 1:00pm at Uniacke House.
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to each run for warm-up.
This will be our 51st year for the fair and although it has always been hosted and staffed by firefighters, it truly takes the community coming together to make this fair such a huge success year after year. It typically takes between 90-100 people to staff the fair and our fire department volunteers typically number between 30-40 members. You can see that at least 60% of the people it takes to make the fair happen are community members. Most community volunteers have been helping for years, if not decades.
Most recruiting is typically done by word of mouth but we are taking the opportunity this year to advertise and recruit community volunteers early to help out with the fair. Any time you can commit to assisting with the fair would be greatly appreciated and we welcome anyone who can spare some time. We can use volunteers in the planning and set-up stages as well as during the actual fair weekend itself. If you are interested in volunteering at this year’s fair, please contact Donna Hosking at 902-483-4100 or by emailing dhosking@uniackefire.ca. Please help spread the word by helping us get this information out into the community.
Any final fair updates will be added to our website www.uniackefire.ca as the dates approach.
For the month of April, Uniacke Firefighters responded to a total of 16 calls: 1 Motor Vehicle Accident; 8 Medical Assistance; 1 Vehicle Fire; 2 Brush Fires; 1 Structure Fire; and 3 Mutual Aid.
